Determined to get back into my better writing habits was how I entered this school year, and while I am not doing so badly with the blogging, I have been struggling to keep up with the commitment I made to myself to complete the Nanowrimo challenge. I managed the3 first week comfortably. Stalled a little on day 8 and 9.
Managed to catch up with a mammoth writing session on the 10th. then stalled again on the 11th.
In defence of myself - this last week at work has been a long, tough one. On top of the usual planning and preparation, I also had: parents' evenings (Monday and Wednesday); someone crash into my car Thursday morning on my drive to work (no damage, no injury, just a bit of a shock); and, a scheduled MRI on Friday after work.
None of these are conducive to having the mental energy to write and all together in one 5 day window was far too much - my spoons ran out.
I did manage to assemble enough spoons in order to make today's contribution, but 16 days into a 30 day challenge, I should be over 25k words in, and I am standing at 17,328 words*. I want to say that work slows down after this week - but who am I kidding? it never slows down. Next is autumn assessments, Christmas events, prep for family Christmas (which I am actually looking forward to carrying out, I've engaged to advice and support of a good friend, and may manage to write my second December post as a reflection of how it all went / is going. I am currently feeling quite festive and am hoping that this cosy buzz will hold out as long as Christmas day this year. I think ramping up the home decor and getting into the season in the right way will help - as long as it isn't too much too soon.
Anyway, given that my remaining challenge word count leaves me with a requirement to write 2,333 words a day for the rest of the month - I should probably get back to it. Let's hope that by the time you actually read this, I did manage to get into a flow and produce the goods. This has been a procrastination post from Weired Worlds, please enjoy your day!
